EPISODE 177
(Dreams and Romance on a Star! Taiki's Transformation)
Original Air Date: 06-15-1996

At Juuban High School, the test results have been posted... and Usagi is shocked to see that Ami and Taiki have once again tied for first place. Makoto says that Taiki is a great man to be able to compete with Ami, and Minako agrees, deciding that she needs to ask Taiki to help her with her homework. Usagi runs after her, feeling that she needs help, too.
As Taiki sits at his desk reading, Minako and Usagi run up to beg for his help on their homework. They bat their eyelashes at Taiki, and he simply hands his notebook to them, telling them to copy his notes. The two thank him and begin to argue over who will get to copy the notes first. As they are arguing, tugging on opposite sides of the notebook, the book tears in half, much to Taiki's dismay.
Meanwhile, Ami quietly sits across the room, reading, wondering why Usagi and Minako haven't asked for help with their homework lately.
[Title Screen]
Wataru Amanogawa walks up a staircase. Ami calls out to him and runs up speak to him about the comet he discovered. He says that he hasn't seen the comet, which he calls Francois, in fifteen years. Ami giggles and says, "You speak of the comet just like a girlfriend, don't you?" The teacher blushes, and Ami tells him that she has calculated the exact time that the comet will appear. Just as she is about to tell him her calculations, Taiki interrupts and say that they will be able to see at 9:15 tomorrow night in the Southern sky, almost crossing over Katarus, and that they will see it for ten minutes.
Professor Amanogawa recognizes Taiki, and says that it is a pleasure to have two students in the school who know about the comet. Taiki says that he is surprised to know a physics teacher that refused an invitation from Cambridge University to be a visiting professor in the theoretical astronomy laboratory. The teacher is surprised that Taiki knows so much about him, but the student tells him that it was in the files he received... Professor Amanogawa is supposed to attend the filming of a children's program of which Taiki will the MC.
Taiki asks why he doesn't go to Cambridge, and the teacher tells him that he just enjoys watching the stars... it makes him feel relaxed. Ami tells him that he is a romantic, but Professor Amanogawa just laughs and says that space is full of dreams and romance. Taiki says that there is no need for dreams and romance in academic research. Ami disagrees, saying that she doesn't think Professor Amanogawa could have found the comet without his dreams and romance. Taiki says that he can't believe that that is the opinion of someone who shared the top score with him. Professor Amanogawa interrupts to two and invites them both to come to his house tomorrow night to look at the comet.
Later, at Fruit Parlor Crown, Ami tells the girls that she has been invited to Professor Amanogawa's house to look at the comet. Rei thinks that a comet wandering through space with your name sounds romantic. Usagi agrees and says that she wants to find a comet with Mamoru and name it the "Usagi and Mamoru Comet." Minako wonders why Professor Amanogawa calls the comet "Francois," and Makoto says that it must have been his senpai's name. Rei and Ami think it must be his girlfriend's name, and that she must be charming. Usagi can't imagine a charming girlfriend for their nerdy teacher.
Minako leans over and tells Ami that Professor Amanogawa will be on a televions show later with Taiki. She then stands up and says that if they say they are students of the teacher, they should be able to see the show live!
At the Ginga TV studio, in the Third Production Room, Nezu Chuuko sits reading a newspaper. She reads that the Wataru Comet will be approaching the Earth again after a fifteen year interval. She looks at an attractive picture of Professor Amanogawa in the newspaper and decides that he looks good, choosing him as the next target.
At a television studio, the children's program is being filmed. Professor Amanogawa says that there are many stars that humans do not know about and, addressing the audience, says, "Perhaps they are waiting to be discovered by one of you someday." Taiki asks the children in the audience if they have any questions. Several children excitedly raise their hands, and Ami, Usagi, Minako, Rei, and Makoto are shown looking on from a distance. Taiki finally chooses one child, who stands and asks if people become stars when they die. Most of the children giggle at the question
Professor Amanogawa nods and says that it might be true... in many legends and myths, people pass away to become stars. Perhaps the souls of one's ancestors are looking down on everyone right now to guide them. Usagi whispers to Ami that the teacher says good things. Taiki coldly says, "Sensei, people who die cannot become stars! It's the power of living humans that make the stars!" The children in the audience gasp. Usagi and Ami are shocked by the comment, but Makoto and Minako find it to be romantic.
After filming, the five girls wait in the lobby looking at posters on the wall. The elevator behind them opens and Taiki steps out, apologizing for keeping them waiting. Ami walks up to him aks if he is going to Professor Amanogawa's house tomorrow night to see the Wataru Comet. Taiki tells her that she needs to see the real phenomenon... dreams and romance can't beat rain. Ami looks out the window to see that it is raining heavily. Taiki tells her that the weather forecast tomorrow calls for 100% rain, meaning that they won't be able to see the comet.
As Taiki boards the elevator once again, Ami calls out to him that they will be able to see the comet, because the Wataru Comet is a real phenomenon born from dreams and romance. Taiki laughs and asks if her dreams and romance can stop the rain. He says that if it is a good day, he will be there, and he disappears into the elevator.
[Commercial Break]
The next day at school, Ami dejectedly looks out the window at the pouring rain. The other students begin to leave school, but Ami stays in her desk. Usagi, Minako, and Makoto come up to her and tell her not to worry, that it will be better soon. She thanks the three girls.
Meanwhile, at the Three Lights' studio, Taiki looks out the window at the rain, and remembers Ami telling him that they will surely be able to see the Wataru Comet, because it is a phenomenon born from dreams and romance.
Later, Nezu Chuuko walks up to Wataru Amanogawa's house in the rain. Inside, Ami drinks tea and looks out the window, saying that it doesn't look like the rain will stop. The doorbell rings... it is Nezu Chuuko. Professor Amanogawa walks outside with his umbrella and says that if she wants an interview with him, to please to it briefly. She says, "Not you, but Professor Amanogawa, please." He says that he IS Wataru Amanogawa! She doesn't believe him, and holds up the picture from the newspaper to compare.
Professor Amanogawa looks at the photograph from the newspaper and says that it is from fifteen years ago. Nezu says to her herself that it is no wonder he looks so obsolete... but there is no choice now. Jumping into the air and throwing her pinstriped suit aside, Nezu jumps into the air and screams, "Chuu!" to transform into Sailor Iron Mouse.
The teacher's umbrella and glasses fall to the ground, and Iron Mouse decides that he is a good-looking man after all. She demands his Star Seed, and uses her bracelets to shoot two orbs of golden light at him. A flower comes out of his forehead and blooms, revealing his Star Seed. Much to Iron Mouse's disappointment, the Star Seed clouds over... it is not a true Star Seed.
Ami runs out of the house just as Professor Amanogawa transforms into a phage called Sailor Teacher. Iron Mouse says, "Sailor Teacher, educate her!" and points a finger at Ami. Iron Mouse disappears into a black phone booth, leaving the two alone. Sailor Teacher yells out, "Study Hard!" and throws several pieces of chalk at Ami. She does not want to attack her teacher, so she stands and allows him to attack. She tries to remind him of the Wataru Comet, and how it is visible tonight, but to no avail.
Meanwhile, a large green car comes to a screeching halt outside of the teacher's house. Taiki steps out of the car, saying to himself that he can only think of Ami's words - something must be wrong with him. He hears Ami scream and runs to see what is happening. From behind a wall, he sees Sailor Teacher continuing his attack on the girl. Taiki then transforms into Sailor Star Maker with "Maker Star Power, Make Up!"
Sailor Star Maker introduces herself, and Sailor Teacher attacks her, telling her that she should study hard, too. Star Maker quickly attacks with "Star Gentle Uterus," but Ami dives forward to push the phage out of the way. Star Maker doesn't understand, but Ami says that she shouldn't attack, because Sailor Teacher is really the teacher that she respects the most."
Sailor Teacher begins to attack again with a large pointer, but Star Maker kicks it out of his hand, telling Ami that the phage is no longer the teacher she respects. Ami says that she is sure the teacher will come back, because he was a teacher who taught dreams and romance. Star Maker asks if dreams and romance are important, and Ami says, "The very minds which seek dreams and romance give us the energy to work!"
Sailor Star Maker is reminded of when he spoke with Ami earlier, and agrees that her comment makes sense. Sailor Teacher stands behind them and attacks with his pointer once more, but the two senshi manage to dodge it.
Meanwhile, Luna and Usagi walk through the rain and hear Ami screaming. Usagi quickly transforms into Eternal Sailor Moon with "Moon Eternal, Make Up!" She suddenly appears at Professor Wataru's house to find Sailor Teacher attacking again. Introducing herself, she says, "Ami is the number one genius at Juuban High School; a walking reference book. I can't forgive you for bullying her! To be honest with you, I really hate to study!"
Sailor Teacher attacks Eternal Sailor Moon by throwing hundreds of pieces of chalk at her. He says, "Go to a desk! Open your textbook! Open your exam book!" As he is about to attack with his pointer, Star Maker attacks him with "Star Gentle Uterus," this time hitting him and knocking him to the ground. Star Maker says not to worry; she has simply reduced his power by half.
Eternal Sailor Moon takes the opportunity to use "Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss" to heal the phage, causing him to transform back into Wataru Amanogawa. His Star Seed descends back into the flower and returns to his body. Just as he is healed, the senshi notice that it has stopped raining, and the sky has become clear.
Later Ami, Usagi, Minako, Makoto, and Rei stand in Professor Amanogawa's observatory as the teacher looks into the large telescope. He tells the excited girls that they will see it the comet soon. The doorbell rings, and Taiki appears, saying that he came as he promised. Professor Amanogawa looks into his telescope and sees Wataru Comet. "Francois, isn't it?" asks Ami. Professor Amanogawa blushes and the two laugh. Later, Taiki looks through the telescope and tells Ami that he can see the dreams and romance that she was talking about. He says that he will make the most of the dreams and romance that he has.
Usagi says that she wants to look at the comet after Taiki, but Minako says that she wants to see it after Taiki. The two begin to argue, and Makoto says that in order to avoid a fight, she'll be the one to see it next!
