EPISODE 170
(The Fatal Night! The Agony of the Sailor Soldiers)
Original Air Date: 04-20-1996

A flashback is shown of the previous episode, where Nehellenia is pulling Mamoru into the mirror realm with her. She tells Sailor Moon that the man's mind is filled with the queen's nightmare, and that before dawn, his mind will be completely occupied. She asks Sailor Moon if she will be able to reach her by that time, and laughs as she turns away.
Suddenly, Sailor ChibiMoon begins to flicker in and out of existance. She transforms into ChibiUsa and collapses... the senshi rush to her aid.
[Title Screen]
ChibiUsa is shown lying in bed at the Hikawa Jinja shrine. Rei, Minako, Ami, and Makoto sit at a table in the room. The door is open, and Usagi can be seen sitting outside with Hotaru, Setsuna, Michiru, and Haruka. All are silent until Artemis remarks that it is a time paradox. Setsuna nods and says that ChibiUsa's future is dramatically changing - if Mamoru does not escape Nehellenia, he and Usagi will not marry in the future, and ChibiUsa will not be born.
Usagi becomes upset, and starts to cry. She begins to run away, but Michiru tells her that Nehellenia is only aiming for Usagi. Setsuna assures the girl that Mamoru will be returned safely. She then tells Usagi that she should stay at the shrine with ChibiUsa. Usagi refuses, saying that she doesn't want a future without Mamoru and ChibiUsa, and that she can't wait! Her tears fall onto her brooch, which glows with a bright pink light and turns into the Eternal Moon Article. Usagi then transforms into Eternal Sailor Moon on her own, without the help of the other senshi.
Eternal Sailor Moon looks to the sky and begins to fly upwards. Rei runs to stop her, but cannot catch her; she falls to the ground where Eternal Sailor Moon was standing. She has gone to try to save Mamoru alone - which is exactly what Nehellenia wants. Hotaru suggests that they go after her, as it is their duty as Sailor Senshi. "To protect the princess," they all say together.
ChibiUsa suddenly appears at the door and says that since she is a Sailor Soldier as well, she will go with them. She understands Usagi, and wants Mamoru back as soon as possible.
The next day at dawn, the senshi stand in a circle and join hands. They are determined to protect the princess, the prince, and their future. They perform Sailor Teleport, and disappear. Luna, Artemis, and Diana rush forward to where they were standing and wish them well on their journey.
Usagi is shown unconscious, in a strange, dark place. She awakens, wondering where she is, and hears Nehellenia's voice saying, "Welcome, White Moon Princess." A mirror appears in front of her, which dissolves as Nehellenia appears. "Stupid woman," says the queen, "to jump in, knowing that it's a trap. Do you miss that man so much? I remember your figure, sacrificing yourself to save your beloved!" A flashback is shown of the end of the Sailor Moon SuperS season. "However," Nehellenia continues, "a miracle will not happen again." Usagi demands that Mamoru is returned to her, but Nehellenia only laughs at her and disappears. A snow storm begins all around Usagi as she struggles to her feet.
Nehellenia is shown sitting in her throne, watching Usagi through a mirror. "I told you," she says, "if you couldn't reach me by the next dawn and clean out the curse, the mind of this man will keep suffering from the nightmare. Now come and reach me! Your beloved man is here!" Mirrors appear all around Nehellenia, showing the Sailor Senshi flying through space.
The senshi are shown with their hands joined, flying together. ChibiUsa begins to flicker again, but struggles to remember happy times with her parents. She is determined to save Mamoru, and stops flickering. Sailor Saturn tells her not to worry.
Nehellenia, annoyed, stands up from her throne and proclaims, "Damn! They came in, following the White Moon Princess! I can't stand it! I'll take all that she loves!" She flings a glass that she is holding at one of the mirrors, which shatters, but is instantly repaired.
The broken shards of the mirror fly towards the senshi, but they clasp their hands even tighter, saying that Nehellenia will only be happier if they are separated. The fly into the shards of the mirror and are separated... they are scattered in different directions.
Sailor Uranus lands in a grassy area that appears to be the ruins of an ancient palace. Tall columns, overgrown with thick moss, reach to the sky. She stands up, wondering where she is. She hears someone behind her and turns, prepared to fight, but sees Sailor Mercury.
[Commercial Break]
Sailor Uranus and Mercury call out for Sailor Moon and Mamoru, but no avail. Sailor Mercury uses her computer to try to track them down, but finds nothing. Sailor Uranus decides that they should go to the top of a hill to try to get a better view, and begins running very fast. Sailor Mercury is unable to keep up, and has a flashback of herself as child. She remembers two girls asking her to play basketball with them, but a third girl telling them that Ami is very busy because she has to go to cram school every day. The girls apologize and leave Ami all alone.
Sailor Uranus wonders why Sailor Mercury can't keep up, and remembers running with Sailor Neptune, thinking that only she can keep her pace.
Sailor Uranus and Mercury stand at the top of a hill, looking down on the ruins all around them. Sailor Mercury continues trying to use her computer, but complains that space must be twisted somehow. Uranus is determined to find an exit, but Mercury warns her that this may be one of Nehellenia's traps to make them tired. This annoys Uranus, who asks if she means that they should just sit and do nothing.
Nehellenia appears before them and says, "I was thinking of putting you in a labyrinth forever, to let you die poorly and disgracefully." Uranus tells her that unfortunately, they won't be her toy. She then jumps in the air to kick the queen, but falls to the ground instead. Sailor Mercury attacks with Mercury Aqua Rhapsody, but it bounces off of the queen and hits the soldier instead. Uranus rushes to her aid, and Nehellenia attacks them with a burst of energy. She misses, but tells the senshi that they can't hurt her.
Sailor Uranus moves to attack again, but Mercury warns her not to do so. She uses World Shaking, but it simply bounces back at her and knocks her to the ground. The moon is shown in the sky, shrouded by darkness. Nehellenia laughs and tells them that she will kill all of the senshi, one by one.
Sailor Mercury realizes that their power is unbalanced, and has a flashback to herself as a child. She sees herself studying and remembers that she has her own way of fighting. Her visor appears and she uses her computer. Her persistence annoys Nehellenia, who attacks her with a burst of energy. The dark energy surrounds Sailor Mercury, but she stands and continues working with her computer. Sailor Uranus urges her to fight, but she says that she hasn't gathered enough data yet.
Sailor Mercury has another flashback of her childhood friends playing basketball. The team won because of a great formation that Ami thought of. Sailor Mercury weakens and falls to her knees, saying that her intelligence is her only way to fight. Sailor Uranus steps into the path of the dark energy, taking the attack in her place, and giving Mercury more time for her calculations.
"Aim high," yells Sailor Mercury, referring to the moon above Nehellenia. Sailor Uranus performs World Shaking, which hits the darkened moon and causes Nehellenia to dissolve into a Mirror Palais Dolly, which Uranus then shatters with her Space Sword. Everything around them disappears; Nehellenia was just an illusion. Uranus asks how Mercury knew that, and she replies that it was because Nehellenia's hair wasn't blowing in the wind.
Uranus remarks that Mercury's way of fighting is quite different from her own, but Mercury says that it is the same, in the sense that they both want to help Usagi.
Mirrors suddenly appear behind the senshi. Nehellenia's reach out and grab them, pulling them into the mirrors. "No one can escape my nightmare," says the queen. "I'll make the people of the White Moon experience the same solitude as I!" Sailor Mercury and Uranus fall into a deep sleep within the mirrors.
Usagi continues wandering through the snow storm, barefoot, calling out to Mamoru.
Sailor Neptune and Sailor Mars are shown standing in a forest with their backs together. Mars performs Akuryou Taisan, causing one of her anti-evil scrolls to fly forward. Meanwhile, Neptune gazes into her mirror. They both say, "This way!" at the same time, pointing in exactly opposite directions. "What are you going to do," asks Neptune. Sailor Mars agrees to follow her, but begrudgingly says that Usagi would have followed her. Sailor Neptune says, "You two are good friends, just like Uranus and me!" "Please don't think like that," replies Sailor Mars, sighing.
The two senshi run through the forest. Nehellenia appears before them and tells them that she will let them suffer her extreme nightmare as well. Flames appear all around the two senshi...
