EPISODE 168
(The Awakening of Saturn! The Ten Sailor Soldiers Get Together)
Original Air Date: 03-23-1996

Usagi and Mamoru sit on a park bench, Usagi holding on to her boyfriend's arm and grasping the string of a reflective balloon. She talks excitedly their relationship, but Mamoru seems distracted. He simply replies, "Right..." in his most monotone voice. She tries to get his attention by reciting difficult tongue-twisters, but to no avail.
Finally, she jumps up, grabbing his attention, and scolds him for not paying attention to her. The sun reflects off of the balloon, and his eye (which has a shard of Nehellenia's broken mirror stuck in it) flashes with golden light. He sees visions of Queen Nehellenia...
He jumps off of the bench, frantically rubbing his eye and shaking his head. Usagi leans forward to look more closely at his eye, and Mamoru knocks the balloon out of her hand, shocking her. He quickly comes to his senses and apologizes. Usagi is worried, and he says that he hasn't been feeling well lately, and will buy her another balloon. She tells him to go home and rest, which he does, saying that he will call her.
Later, Usagi sits with Makoto, Rei, Ami, and Minako at Fruit Parlor Crown, discussing how nice it is to have peace. Ami says that she can now concentrate on her studies, and Rei says that she has started to learn English conversation (in preparation for her "shining future") on a television show called "Let's Speak English." Makoto says that she watches the program as well, and that George, the M.C., looks good... especially his eyes! Ami asks if they've really been studying. Minako chimes in that she has been practicing singing and dancing every day.
The girls notice that Usagi looks unhappy, and ask her if she had a fight with Mamoru. They tell her to cheer up, and that they will listen to her story. She begins to tell them, and the scene fades out...
A car pulls up to a house, and Michiru and Haruka get out. Hotaru runs up to them, welcoming them home. She tells them that she has been studying an essay with Setsuna. She is then distracted by a butterfly, and runs after it... Michiru comments on how cute little Hotaru is.
There is a flashback to the previous episode, when the three outer senshi were fighting the Mirror Palais Dolly, and Hotaru's powers were awakened. "Since then," says Haruka, "Hotaru began to grow up at an amazing speed." Watching the child chase the butterfly, Michiru agrees, "Every morning, she's obviously getting bigger..." Setsuna comments that the child's growth is not restricted to physical matters; her intelligence has been growing as well. She reports that the child now understands the Theory of Relativity, and has memorized Yeats poems. Michiru worries, because she wanted Hotaru to spend her life as an ordinary child.
The three realize that Hotaru has gone missing. They look for her inside the house, but are unable to find her. Finally, they enter the last room of the house to find Hotaru silently kneeling on the floor, holding a glowing orb of energy. As the orb grows, Setsuna tells Haruka and Michiru that the orb is the Big Bang, and that Hotaru is simulating the events of the past in high speed. Stars appear within the orb, then the solar system. A close-up view of the moon is shown, with Hotaru's vision of Eternal Sailor Moon superimposed onto it. Haruka is reminded of "The Lives of the Space," a science fiction book she read as a child.
Hotaru suddenly collapses, and the three women run towards her. Haruka takes the child in her arms, and Hotaru has a vision of the moon being shrouded by evil darkness. "The shining blond hair is attacked by an evil wish," cries Hotaru. Haruka shakes the child and tells her take it easy, and Hotaru begins to cry; she is scared. Haruka comforts her, and wonders what is happening.
The scene changes, and we see Usagi standing on the sidewalk with Rei, Makoto, Minako, and Ami. They tell Usagi not to worry about Mamoru, and that she is in a better situation than any of them, because they don't even have boyfriends. Suddenly, two attractive men walk by, and the five girls stare. Usagi decides that the girls are right; she is thinking too much. As the girls look at the men, Nehellenia appears in the glass of the window behind Usagi...
[Commercial Break]
Mamoru sits at home, working at his computer. The phoe rings, but he ignores it. A golden light flashes in his eye, and he rubs it. When the phone rings again, becomes irritated and knocks his keyboard to the floor. The light flashes in his eye again, but he calms down and says, "something is wrong with me." He recalls Usagi's words from the park, telling him to have a rest, and decides that a rest is just what he needs.
Usagi sits alone in her room, worrying about Mamoru. Nehellenia briefly appears and says, "I got him." Usagi hears this and looks up, but sees nothing. "An illusion," she wonders? She becomes even more worried.
Back at the home of the Outer Senshi, Michiru tells Setsuna and Haruka that Hotaru is alright, and she is sleeping. They worry about what might happen.
The scene changes to show Usagi at home, sleeping peacefully in her bed. Nehellenia appears on a mirror, watching the girl sleep. Nehellenia's laugh can be heard throughout the city, and she appears in every reflective surface. Hotaru suddenly wakes up in her bed, and sees a reflection of Nehellenia in her window.
"Wake up, sleeping soul under my protection" cries a voice, as the reflection disappears. Sailor Saturn appears in the room and introduces herself as Hotaru's guardian. She extends her fingertip, and as she touches young Hotaru's head with an orb of light, she says, "The time is coming. Wake up right now!" When Hotaru is touched, she remembers the events of her past; her friends, the Sailor Senshi, Mistress9, and defeating Pharaoh90. The symbol of Saturn appears on her forehead.
Setsuna, Michiru, and Haruka sit in a room, talking, when Hotaru suddenly appears bathed in light at the door, having grown into the age she was during the Sailor Moon S season. Hotaru tells them that a crisis is approaching the princess and her guardians. The evil darkness is coming...
The next day, Rei has asked Usagi, Ami, Minako, Makoto, and ChibiUsa to come to the Hikawa Jinja shrine. She tells them that last night, the holy mirror in the shrine began to quake and emit black energy. Rei performed Akuryou Taisan on it, and the anti-evil scroll caused it to cease. Minako tells Rei that she has seen several people looking helplessly into mirrors, and Usagi says that she saw something strange in a window yesterday.
The girls discuss what might be happening, when Mirror Palais Dolly appear around them. The girls quickly transform, but their opponents continue increasing in number. Sailor Moon and Sailor ChibiMoon run away, while the other girls bravely attack. The Mirror Palais Dolly continue to multiply and surround the senshi, when Tuxedo Kamen appears and throws a rose at the villains. He is in the middle of his speech when he suddenly grabs his eye in pain. The Mirror Palais Dolly seize the opportunity to grab all of the senshi except for Sailor Moon and Sailor ChibiMoon.
Fortunately, Sailor Pluto, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Uranus appear and introduce themselves. They then announce that Sailor Saturn is with them, much to the surprise of the other senshi. Sailor Uranus performs her World Shaking attack, destroying several Mirror Palais Dolly. Sailor Moon asks why they have come, and the Outer Senshi reply that Sailor Saturn told them of their crisis. The Inner Senshi seem surprised...
"Sailor Moon," says Sailor Saturn, "Wake up now as the true princess of the moon. Let's put our minds together, everyone." Each senshi closes her eyes, and is bathed in light. "I can feel their power coming into my body," says Sailor Moon, "The words are appearing in my mind..." The Crisis Moon Compact appears, and the energy of each senshi flows into it, causing it to transform into the Eternal Moon Article.
Super Sailor Moon yells, "Moon Eternal Power, Make Up!" and transforms into Eternal Sailor Moon. The Kaleidomoon Scope transforms into the Eternal Tiare, and begins to emit pink light. Eternal Sailor Moon holds the Eternal Tiare above her head, and destroys all of the Mirror Palais Dolly. She suddenly collapses and transforms back into Super Sailor Moon. The Inner Senshi rush forward to help their friend. Sailor Saturn tells them that Eternal Sailor Moon is the real form of Sailor Moon, and that she was awakened to tell them this.
Later, Mamoru and Usagi stand outside of Mamoru's apartment. Usagi asks if he is ok, but he says that he just needs a rest. Inside, he washes his face and thinks, "A strange feeling. As if my body wasn't mine..." Nehellenia appears in the mirror, with her arms wrapped around his reflection, and says, "Right. You are mine now. White Moon Princess, I'll take all that you love!" Mamoru is unresponsive, though his eye glows with golden light.
