Sitting underneath the Makaiju, An tells Ail about the flower gazing festival that is held each year during this time. She says the humans use a lot of energy at the festival. Ail remarks that he was told that the Makaiju used to have beautiful flowers on it when their alien race was in power. They both remember the way the tree looked on their home planet. Ail smiles and says that he thinks they will be able to gather a lot of energy...

Ms. Haruna has brought a group of students to the park for flower gazing. Usagi, Makoto, Ami, Natsumi, and Naru are all there. Even Rei and Minako have joined them, although they go to a different school. Makoto cheerfully says that there are no students or teachers today; Rei agrees and says that they are all lovers of flower gazing.

The group of girls meets Umino, who has been saving a spot for them. To find his excellent place, he tells the girls that he has been waiting since last night. Ami says that he must have been cold, because the weather is still very chilly at this time of year. He shows them his "secret weapon," a very warm sleeping bag. Ms. Haruna tells him that he didn't have to go so far for them, but he says that he had a duty to Naru and everyone. Naru zips him up in the sleeping and exclaims, "Okay, everyone, let's have lunch!"

Everyone sits down for lunch and begins talking. Umino is still upset about being zipped into his sleeping bag, but Naru laughs and says it was only a little joke. Everyone begins discussing lunch. Usagi says that everyone's lunch looks delicious. Rei says, "everyone's but yours!" Usagi's lunch looks a little messy, but she says, "Even though it looks like this, I put my heart and soul into making it! At least I didn't take the easy way out like you did." Rei's lunch is from "RacDonald," a fast-food chain (it is an obvious spoof on the popular McDonald's).

Makoto offers Usagi some of her lunch, which Usagi says looks yummy. Naru gives Umino a lunch that she prepared for him, apologizing if it is not to his taste. He begins to cry and say he's sure it will be the best in the universe! Ami and Minako brought sandwiches, which Usagi thinks look delicious. They offer her some. As she is eating, she asks Natsumi where her lunch is. Natsumi mysteriously says, "I have delicious energy waiting on me..."

Usagi accuses her of just depending on everyone else's lunch, but Rei says that that's what Usagi is doing! Usagi reminds her that she is having some of Makoto's lunch as well, to which she replies, "Shut up! Go off and eat your ugly rice balls or something."

Usagi puts some "super hot" mustard on a sandwich and slyly gives it to Rei. When Rei takes a bite, she feels like her mouth is on fire and faints! Usagi laughs hysterically, but Rei soon jumps up and the girls begin fighting. Usagi says Rei deserves it for being so mean, but Rei says, "What would you do if my appendix exploded?!"

Haruna-sensei reminds herself that they're not in school and tries to be patient, but still tells everyone that they have one hour of free activities in order to stop the fighting. Everyone groans and tells her that they're not in school! She is embarrassed, but everyone laughs. The first fight is over. Usagi points out a nearby stand selling dumplings, and Rei remarks that she is a "dumpling eating dumplings," prompting another fight!

Seijuuro Ginga looks on from behind a nearby tree, finding Usagi beautiful even as she argues. Natsumi walks over to him and jealously asks if he really finds Usagi beautiful. He says that it is a misunderstanding; he was really mesmerized by the cherry blossoms. Natsumi says that it doesn't matter... they should hurry and take the energy from the lively students. They both quickly transform from their human disguises into their alien forms.

Ail holds out a deck of cards and tells An to pick one. The one she chooses floats into the air. When Ail begins to play his flute, it glows and the eyes of the figure on the card begin to glow.

Meanwhile, Umino tells Naru that he likes cherry blossoms, but that he thinks she looks much prettier. She blushes and asks him if he ever feels embarrassed by the things he says. He matter-of-factly says that he doesn't, because he never says anything that isn't true.

A nearby barren tree begins to emit a strange energy. A tall column of energy then engulfs both Umino and Naru, knocking them both unconscious. Haruna-senshi soon finds them lying on the ground and rushes to their side. A strange woman appears behind her, and she begs the woman to go get help. Unfortunately, the woman is actually the Cardian Reci. Instead of helping, her eyes begin to glow and she steals Haruna-sensei's energy as well.

The three unconscious victims are taken to a nearby office, where a doctor tells Usagi that after some rest, her friends' condition should improve. He then says that ten people have already been brought into the office that day, which he finds very puzzling as it is still too early in the season for sunstroke.

Usagi, who was accompanied into the office by Luna and Artemis, walks outside. Artemis tells her that Naru, Umino, and Haruna must have had their energy stolen. Luna says that everyone is already investigating the place where the incident happened, and the three of them head in that direction.

Meanwhile, Rei, Makoto, Ami, and Minako are looking around the place where the victims had their energy stolen. Rei says that she feels an even aura around the place. Soon, the nearby barren tree begins to glow again and Reci appears within it. Once the Cardian is fully visible, her eyes begin to glow. Four columns of energy engulf the four girls as they scream.

Usagi hears her friends' screams as she is running to the area and quickly transforms into Sailor Moon.

[Commercial Break]

When Sailor Moon arrives at the scene, she sees that her friends' energy is being stolen. The Cardian then emerges from a nearby cherry tree and physically attack Sailor Moon, knocking her to the ground. Luna tells the girl to fight back! Sailor Moon tries to use her Moon Tiara Action attack, but the tiara stops spinning in mid-air and Reci knocks it out of her way. Rei warns Sailor Moon not to look in the Cardian's eyes!

Reci attacks again, this time grabbing Sailor Moon and forcing her to the ground. Once she is pinned down, energy engulfs her and her transformation brooch shatters, causing her to detransform back into her civilian form. The other girls look on as the Earth becomes quicksand-like and swallows Usagi. Luna rushes forward and grabs the girl's sleeve in an attempt to save her, but both of them are ultimately drawn into the Earth. The other girls and Artemis are shocked by what is happening!

Meanwhile, the Makaiju is bursting with a great deal of energy. The aliens are excited that the tree may soon regain its natural beauty. They order Reci to gather even more energy.

Floating through a vast, empty space filled with white light, Usagi asks Luna what she should do. She wonders why she can't transform. Although she is a Sailor Senshi again, she says that she still wishes she was a normal junior high girl. Luna tells her that as long as she feels that way, she won't be able to transform or use her tiara.

Usagi awakens to find herself floating in space with the unconscious Luna in her arms. She feels bad about giving Luna such a hard time, and wonders if the two of them are dead. Suddenly, a tiny spirit form of Queen Serenity appears before her. She says, "We are inside your soul. Thank you for still needing me." Usagi anxiously tells her that she still needs to save everyone.

Queen Serenity calmly asks about the transformation brooch, which Usagi holds in front of her. When she does, a bright light shines out and she finds herself in the Moon Kingdom dressed as Princess Serenity and standing in front of Queen Serenity. The Ginzuishou floats between them. The queen says, "Your desire to save your friends protected the Ginzuishou." The crystal then merges with the broken brooch, creating a new brooch... the Crystal Star.

Queen Serenity asks Luna to continue to help the princess. The princess realizes that as long as she has the crystal, she will be able to help everyone. The queen then tells her daughter, "Princess, that Ginzuishou is not as powerful as it used to be. But one day, I'm sure your desire to take care of your friends and everyone else will bring out the true power of the Ginzuishou." As Princess Serenity walks away, she thanks her mother. The queen tells her to say, "Moon Crystal Power, Make Up!"

Princess Serenity raises the new transformation brooch into the air and says the incantation she was told to say. She immediately transforms into Sailor Moon.

Meanwhile, Reci has encased the other four unconscious Senshi within a tree and is attacking Artemis, who feels that he simply isn't strong enough to carry on. There is suddenly a brief lunar eclipse and Sailor Moon appears saying, "Spring roll, spring chicken, spring is here! How dare you disrupt everyone's favorite activity, flower gazing? You're worse than the drunk old man who crashes flower gazing parties! I am a Sailor Senshi of love and justice, Sailor Moon! In the name of the moon, I'll punish you!"

Artemis is glad to see that both Sailor Moon and Luna are safe. Luna thanks him for hanging in there.

Reci attacks Sailor Moon again, who quickly dodges out of the way. Luna tells her to pull herself together; she's the only one who can save everyone. Just as Reci begins another attack, a white rose flies through the air and hits her in the face, stopping her.

The Moonlight Knight appears high in the tree branches and says, "It is a perfect night to enjoy the beauty of flowers. The life of cherry blossoms is fleeting. It is unforgivable to scatter them with filthy hands. Sailor Moon, you are the only one who can save everyone."

Suddenly, Queen Serenity's voice calls out to the princess. When Sailor Moon looks towards the full moon, it begins to glow and a new wand falls into her arms - the Cutie Moon Rod. Queen Serenity tells her to use this scepter to "ignite the flame of hope for the future."

Reci flies towards Sailor Moon to attack again, but this time, Sailor Moon lifts her Cutie Moon Rod into the air and destroys the Cardian with her new Moon Princess Halation attack. Reci screams, "Cleansing....!" before dying. Her card falls to the ground, and all of the energy she collected is released. An and Ail are extremely angry with the Cardian for failing.

Later, Sailor Moon tends to her weak and weary friends. The Moonlight Knight says to her, "Sailor Moon, you did a good job by yourself. The beauty of cherry blossoms cannot compare to a girl with courage." He then bids her adeiu and leaves.

Sailor Moon's friends thank her and tell her that she did a great job. The cats tell her that she has taken a step up. Rei then says that she wishes Sailor Moon had saved them sooner! The two girls begin to argue and stick their tongues out at each other.

Sailor Moon takes a final glance at the moon and thanks Queen Serenity for her help. Cherry blossoms begin to fall all around them.
