Late at night, Rei, Makoto, and Ami are at Game Center Crown after hours. Ami sits in front of an arcade game looking at various maps as the other girls look on. Usagi and Luna suddenly rush in, late. Luna says that the confection shop they checked was not a doorway to the Dark Kingdom's lair, as suspected. Ami looks back to her maps and says, "Youma are being sent in one after another from the Dark Kingdom. There has to be a doorway for them somewhere!" Luna asks Rei and Makoto about the places they checked out, but they had no luck, either.
Usagi begins to complain that she is tired and hungry. Luna scolds her, saying that she needs to be a little more patient... besides, she just ate at the confection shop. Although she ate a lot, she still doesn't think it was enough! She begins to cry, but Artemis and Minako walk in and stop her. Minako says that their search was not successful; they checked all the public baths in Tokyo and found nothing.
Ami thanks them for their hard work, and Makoto suggests that they call it a night and go home. Just as they all agree to leave, the maps disappear from the arcade game screen and it begins glowing. The sun suddenly appears on the screen, showing strange solar activity. Everyone rushes to look at the screen. Luna and Artemis tell the girls that the way the sunspots are spreading is just like when the Moon Kindom was destroyed long ago.
In the Dark Kingdom's lair, Endymion is being brainwashed once again. Queen Metallia tells Queen Beryl and Kunzite that when sunspots blanket the surface of the sun, she will be brought back to life. Queen Beryl laughs and tells Kunzite that the world be hers once Metallia is revived and they obtain the Ginzuishou.
He reports that he has found a policewoman, Katarina, who knows the true identity of Sailor V, and who works for Interpol in England. He says that the woman used to care for Sailor V as a little sister, which Queen Beryl finds interesting, believing that Sailor V and Sailor Moon are connected in some way. She leaves the matter for Kunzite.
Suddenly, a burst of energy in the shape of hands bursts forth from Queen Metallia and envelopes Endymion. Queen Metallia tells her minions that Endymion has the same wavelength of energy as her, and that he is worthy of inheriting her energy. The energy pulsates through Endymion's body, and he screams.
Usagi suddenly wakes up in her bed. Luna says that she must have been having a bad dream again, and tells the girl that it is bad for her to keep worrying about Tuxedo Kamen. She reminds her that she must eat and sleep properly. Usagi nods and says that she has no problem eating properly, and begins eating an odango. She laughs and says that looking at the moon somehow makes odango taste better!
Artemis leaps through the open window and knocks Usagi over, causing her to choke on the odango. He tells them that Minako has disappeared. Luna speculates that she may have found the entrance to the Dark Kingdom's lair, but he says that is impossible because she would have taken him with her. He then tells Luna that Minako received a phone call from a woman named Katarina, so the disappearance may have something to do with her.
Meanwhile, Minako has gone to meet Katarina in a hotel room. Katarina knows the girl's identity as Sailor V, and says that she was surprised to hear that she was doing well. She asks Minako why she didn't let her know that she was alive. She then asks if Minako still transforms to do good deeds, and if she knows the Sailor Senshi. She says that she wants to help Minako, and tells her that she would like to be introduced to the Sailor Senshi.
Minako asks if Alan is doing alright, and Katarina shows her a picture of herself with Alan. Katarina is wearing a locket that Minako gave her for her birthday, which Minako notices right away. Katarina changes the subject again and begs to be introduced to the Sailor Senshi. Minako sadly says that although she is a great police officer, it is the problem of the Senshi only. She refuses to expose her friend to danger. She then quickly runs out of the room.
After she leaves, Kunzite appears. He decides that further questioning will not help them, so he uses a burst of pink energy to cause Katarina to transform into the youma Papillon. He instructs her to attack Minako, and she flies out of the window.
Minako stands by the edge of the water, looking at a photograph of her and Alan. She begins to cry. She notices a butterfly flying past, which is strange for the time of year. Suddenly, the youma Papillon attacks her! Luckily, she leaps out of the way and transforms into Sailor Venus, then attacks with Crescent Beam. Papillon is surprised to find out that Minako is Sailor Venus, but knows her fighting style nonetheless and is able to easily deflect the attack.
Papillon attacks by sending dozens of glowing butterflies to swarm around the girl, obviously causing her pain. Sailor Venus looks up and notices that Papillon is wearing the necklace that she gave Katarina. She quickly figures out that the youma is Katarina, and begs to know why she is doing this. Papillon ignores the question and demands to know the identity of the other Sailor Senshi.
Usagi, Luna, and Artemis rush onto the scene. The youma looks tough, and they have difficulty determining a good escape route. Finally, Luna instructs Usagi to use her disguise pen to transform into a sailor, which will allow her to pilot a boat. She quickly does so. Luna and Artemis run forward and attack the youma, knocking her into the water and causing the attack on Sailor Venus to cease.
The two girls and their cats board a speedboat while Usagi drives away. Sailor Venus asks how they were able to find her, and Artemis tells her that they searched all of the hotels which had a woman named Katarina as a guest. They soon found out that she was staying at the Hillside Hotel with a view of the pier.
Suddenly, Papillon leaps out of the water and begins chasing the boat.
[Commercial Break]
Usagi speeds up the boat, and Luna suggests that they seek shelter in a nearby luxury liner. Usagi notices that Sailor Venus seems very depressed, but does not pursue the matter immediately.
Once they board the luxury liner, they quickly hide. Although there is no one on the ship, Artemis warns them not to let their guard down, because the youma knows that they are on board. Luna asks who Katarina is, which clearly upsets Sailor Venus. Usagi scolds her, saying, "Luna, sometimes there are things people don't want to talk about!"
Sailor Venus says that it's ok. She explains that about six months ago, she received information that one of the Dark Kingdom's youma was in England. She went to London to investigate, where she met and fell in love with Alan. One day, she came across a crime in progress. Katarina was chasing after a criminal, who was holding a little girl hostage. The criminal suddenly transformed into a youma. Sailor V arrived on the scene and attacked, managing to both destroy the youma and save the little girl. This was how she met Katarina.
Katarina became her close friend. She taught Minako English and acted as a confidant. Katarina was like her older sister. She even introduced Alan to her new friend. One day, Katarina and Sailor V went to investigate some suspicious activity at a harbor warehouse. A criminal there threw a grenade at Sailor V, causing the entire structure to come crumbling down. Katarina was standing outside, and although she was thrown quite far by the blast, she survived unharmed.
Looking back at the burning building, she believed that Minako was killed. In reality, Sailor V was able to escape and take shelter in a nearby alley. Alan quickly arrived on the scene and Katarina told him that Minako had died in the explosion. He hugged her and told her to be strong. Sailor V saw the scene from her hidden location in the alley, and realized that Alan and Katarina had fallen in love with each other, without ever knowing about Minako's feelings for Alan.
Sailor Venus explains to Usagi that she thought it would be better to just pretend that she was dead, so she came back to Japan and became devoted to fighting the enemy, trying to forget her memories of England.
The lights suddenly come on and Papillon enters the room, threatening the two girls. Usagi tells her to watch out because she is in a bad mood right now, and quickly transforms into Sailor Moon. She says she no longer cares if the youma knows her true identity.
Papillon flies through the air and attacks the girls. Sailor Moon uses her Moon Tiara Action attack, which breaks the youma's necklace and sends her flying backwards. Sailor Venus picks up the locket and thinks of her friends. She cries out to Sailor Moon, "Please save her! She was turned into a youma because of me. She knew I was a Sailor Senshi; that's why the Dark Kingdom used her. None of this is her fault!" Sailor Moon angrily reminds her that Katarina betrayed her and stole her boyfriend, but Sailor Venus says that Katarina was the one Alan was truly in love with. She pleads for Papillon's safety once more.
Sailor Moon uses Moon Healing Escalation to heal the youma, causing her transform back into Katarina. Sailor Venus rushes forward to embrace her friend, who immediately apologizes for everything. Katarina tells Sailor Venus that she thought she was still a child, and she didn't know her feelings.
Later, Minako looks out over the water as Usagi, Makoto, Ami, and Rei look on. The girls wonder what happened to her, and if they should comfort her. Usagi tells her friends that they should leave Minako alone now, because she is much more grown up than the rest of them.
Minako looks at a picture of herself and Alan, and decides that things are as they should be: Alan is with the one he loves, Katarina. As long as they are happy, that's all that matters.
