After the battle with Zoisite and Kunzite in the ship yard (from the previous episode), Sailor Moon asks Sailor Venus, who just appeared for the first time, if she is the Moon Princess. Sailor Venus says that she isn't... like the other Sailor Senshi, she is another soldier here to protect the princess. Sailor Moon is extremely excited about meeting Sailor Venus, who was formerly known as Sailor V... one of her idols. All of the senshi shake hands.

Artemis interrupts the meeting to ask all the Sailor Senshi to meet the next day at Hikawa Jinja in order to discuss an ongoing investigation. Sailor Venus then leaps away into the night.

In the Dark Kingdom's lair, Kunzite asks Queen Beryl why she ordered them to pull back during the battle with the Sailor Senshi, when they felt that they were close to obtaining the Nijizuishou and defeating Tuxedo Kamen. She tells them that Queen Metallia demanded that they bring Tuxedo Kamen in alive instead of killing him. Zoisite asks for an explanation, but Queen Beryl says that the orders will not be explained.

Mamoru, who is injured, returns to him apartment. He is angry with himself for not being able to protect Sailor Moon during the battle. As he rests on his sofa, Zoisite's image suddenly appears on a large screen in his apartment. Zoisite says that once he found out Tuxedo Kamen's true identity, it was easy to locate him in Tokyo. He suggests that since the Dark Kingdom knows who he is, they should "settle" the matter of the Nijizuishou by fighting for them.... "fair and square." Mamoru agrees to meet him at the skyscraper Starlight Tower in the Bay Area at 5:00 in the evening. Zoisite then disappears.

Usagi leaves Juuban Junior High School, after being kept after school. She is running late, but she stops when she sees Mamoru. She doesn't realize that he is hurt, and when she greets him, she slaps him on the back. He comments on how she is so perky all the time, which she interprets as criticism... but he smiles and tells her that he hopes she continues to be perky all the time. As he walks away, she notices that there is blood on her hand and wonders if Mamoru is injured.

As Mamoru rests on his way to the Starlight Tower, a hand reaches out from the darkness and grabs his shoulder. He quickly spins around and realizes that it is Usagi, who has secretly followed him. She says she followed him because she was worried due to his injury. He is surprised, and tells her to go home, saying that it is none of her business.

He walks away, but she continues following him. When he arrives at Starlight Tower, Zoisite sees both of them and transports them inside.

Rei, Makoto, Ami, and Luna are waiting for Usagi at Hikawa Jinja. Rei comments that this is extremely late, even for Usagi. Ami says she wasn't at home, and Makoto says she wasn't at school, either. Luna notes that the communication device isn't even getting through to her. They resolve to find Usagi, and the new Sailor Senshi (Sailor Venus) and her white cat suddenly appear to tell them that Usagi is at Starlight Tower.

Rei demands to know who they are, and they introduce themselves as Minako Aino and Artemis. Artemis tells them that according to their investigation, the enemy is located at Starlight Tower. Since the girls are unable to use their communication devices, Minako thinks that Usagi must be there. They all agree to go to Starlight Tower together.

At the tower, Mamoru and Usagi have been transported inside via a glowing red bubble. Usagi is unconscious.

Zoisite greets Mamoru and walks to the center of the room, where he puts down the Nijizuishou that he has collected so far, instructing Mamoru to do the same. Mamoru begs him to let Usagi go, and Zoisite says that he will do so as soon as the other Nijizuishou are presented. When Mamoru puts his Nijizuishou down with the others, Zoisite laughs because Mamoru is "so dumb."

Kunzite suddenly appears in front of the seven Nijizuishou and collects them all for the Dark Kingdom. Of course, Mamoru is quite angry because the Dark Kingdom isn't playing fair, but Zoisite warns him that if he moves, "that girl will be burned to a crisp." He throws a rose towards Kunzite, but Kunzite quickly disappears and Zoisite is struck on the face, visibly angering him. Zoisite disappears in a flurry of rose petals, telling Mamoru that if he wants the Nijizuishou, he should come to the observation deck at the top of the building.

Usagi wakes up and wonders why Zoisite and Mamoru are there... and why Mamoru knows about the Nijizuishou. At this time, she has no idea that Mamoru is really Tuxedo Kamen.

Zoisite causes the room to become filled with enormous icicles. The icicles fall from the ceiling, and Mamoru and Usagi must run to keep from being hit. As they are running, Usagi notices that Mamoru has an injury on his shoulder - the same place where Tuxedo Kamen was injured the day before. As more icicles hit the ground, the floor begins to crumble away. Mamoru tells Usagi to run for the elevator.

[Commercial Break]

When Mamoru and Usagi reach the elevator, they quickly go inside as the entire floor behind them crumbles away. Usagi thinks they are safe, but the door behind them fades into the wall, leaving them trapped. The elevator begins moving.

Meanwhile, the senshi arrive at Starlight Tower. Ami uses her visor to see that Mamoru and Usagi are inside the elevator, and all of the doors to the building are closed. Sailor Jupiter uses her Supreme Thunder attack to blast through the door, and they all run inside. Zoisite and Kunzite see that the Sailor Senshi have arrived.

Inside the elevator, Usagi asks Mamoru why he was talking about the Nijizuishou. He tells her that he only wanted to recall his past; in order to get his memories back, he must collect the seven Nijizuishou and obtain the Maboroshi no Ginzuishou. She is surprised that he knows about the Ginzuishou. He continues his story, telling her that his parents were killed in a car accident when he was six years old. Mamoru was in the car, but he miraculously survived. Since then, he has not been able to remember anything. However, he has a recurring dream about a princess telling him to find the Mabororshi no Ginzuishou.

He tells Usagi that he isn't sure why he told her everything. She jokingly says, "I thought you were the most obnoxious guy in the world. But now, I'll move you up to second place." He laughs and thanks her, but when he turns her head, she notices that he looks a lot like Tuxedo Kamen.

Kunzite sees that the senshi have entered the building, and he causes darkness to spread throughout the city. The tower itself is also transformed. Zoisite sends flames shooting down the elevator shaft towards Mamoru and Usagi. After debating with herself whether or not to transform and show Mamoru her identity, she eventually decides to transform into Sailor Moon and rescue Mamoru.

The flames reach the elevator, which is immediately destroyed. Zoisite thinks that he has killed them both, but they suddenly appear behind him. Sailor Moon confronts him, and Zoisite tells her that he'll take care of both her and Tuxedo Kamen. She is confused because Tuxedo Kamen isn't around. Behind her, Mamoru says, "He's right here."

Much to Sailor Moon's surprise, Mamoru pulls a rose out of his jacket and transforms into Tuxedo Kamen. He tells her that she was very brave today, and that she should leave the rest to him. She protests, saying that he should run because he is hurt, but he promises to protect her.

Zoisite is impatient to finish things, and Tuxedo Kamen makes him promise not to touch Sailor Moon. Although Zoisite says he will fight "fair and square," he produces a large, extremely sharp crystal shard behind Sailor Moon that rushes towards her. Tuxedo Kamen leaps in the way just in time and is stabbed in the process.

The Sailor Senshi rush into the room to find Sailor Moon holding Tuxedo Kamen in her arms. A tear rolling down her cheek crystallizes, and the Nijizuishou which were in Kunzite's possession float towards her. The seven crystals then come together in Sailor Moon's tear to form the Maboroshi no Ginzuishou, which immediately attaches itself to the Moon Stick.

Sailor Moon stands up and transforms into the Moon Princess.
