The episode opens in the Dark Kingdom's lair. Queen Beryl asks Jadeite about the energy for Queen Metallia. He asks for a little more time, and says that everything is going as planned. She says that it needs to work better this time, but he tells her that although there were some interruptions before, he is still working with the youma Flow.

Usagi sits at home in her bedroom, listening to a show on the radio. The radio announcer reads a love letter. Naru can be seen sitting in her own bedroom, listening intently. Haruna Sakurada's bedroom is shown; she is jumping up and down, cheering. The radio announcer says that the letter he has been reading was submitted by "Haruna the Dreamer" from Juubangai. Usagi, in her own room, declares, "Haruna? That's our teacher's name! No, it can't be her."

The radio announcer says that they are reading everyone's love letters on air. If you send in your letter and it is read on the air, they will send you a flower brooch that "makes love come true."

Luna walks into Usagi's room, and Usagi says that she wants a flower brooch. Luna tries to get her attention, but Usagi is distracting, thinking that she's never written a love letter before, and she doesn't know to whom she might write one. Finally, Luna yells to get her attention. She tells Usagi to go to bed, so she doesn't oversleep - she dosn't have time to listen to late-night radio, because she has an important mission. Usagi angrily gets in bed.

The next morning, Kenji Tsukino reads the morning paper at breakfast. It shows a mysterious sleeping illness that "won't let you wake up." He says that he wants to get it for the rest of his life, but Ikuko reminds him that his family needs him to work. He tells her that if he were sleeping, he would miss her delicious cooking. She puts a piece of toast in his mouth.

Kenji and Ikuko suddenly hear Usagi yelling that she is late. Usagi runs in, grabs toast, and runs out again. She makes it to school to find that her teacher, Haruna-sensei isn't there yet. She thinks she is very lucky not to have been caught being tardy. Umino says that it is unusual for the teacher to be late.

Suddenly, Haruna staggers in. She is visibly exhausted! She trips on the way in and almost falls. She begins to take roll, but drops the book. She finally tells the class that today will be a self-study day; just to study whatever they want. Haruna-sensei is wearing a purple flower brooch from the previous night's radio program. It begins collecting her energy! Haruna-sensei says that she is very sleepy, and begins to nap on her desk. All of her students are baffled. Usagi says she doesn't know what's wrong with her teacher, but "it's lucky for me!"

Luna walks on the street thinking about how Usagi never listens to her. "She's probably being scolded by the teacher right now! Serves her right!" Suddenly, a door opens behind her and Motoki says, "We meet again, kitty." Luna is surprised, and hopes he didn't hear her talking. Motoki talks to Luna, asking her why she isn't with Usagi, and pets her. Luckily, he didn't hear her talking. Motoki tells her to wait for just a moment, and he'll bring her some milk. Luna says that she wishes Usagi would treat her like that. Suddenly, an ambulance drives by.

At Usagi's school, Haruna-sensei is being taken into an ambulance on a stretcher. She is still sleeping. Her students watch from the window of the classroom, and Usagi asks, "Is it that exhausting to be a teacher?" Naru tells her that she heard of a disease going around where you go to sleep and never wake up. Usagi says that it must be nice to sleep forever, because you get to stay in your dreams forever.

At the radio station, FM No. 10, several letters have arrived addressed to "Midnight Zero," but the officials say that the show does not exist. They decide to just discard the letters, but a woman walks in and tells them that she'll take care of the letters. The woman is wearing a purple flower brooch.

After school, Usagi and Naru walk home discussing the Midnight Zero radio program. Naru says that she has sent them many love letters. Usagi asks her to whom she is writing, but Naru says that it doesn't matter; you can just write them to your future boyfriend. Usagi thinks of her future boyfriend.

Suddenly, Usagi bumps into a telephone pole! She immediately begins apologizing, thinking that she has bumped into someone. Mamoru, who was standing beside the pole, laughs at her and says that the warm weather may be affecting her head. Mamoru walks off, and Naru says that he is good looking. Usagi says that he isn't; he ticks her off!

Later that night, Usagi sits in her bedroom, preparing to write a love letter. Luna tells her that a love letter doesn't really mean much if you don't give it to the person yourself. Usagi tells her not to talk to her right now. Usagi begins to think of her future boyfriend, but she can't think of anything to write. She blames this on the fact that she failed Japanese, but Luna says that has nothing to do with it. Usagi decides that she'll go see J. Dite, the radio host from Midnight Zero, and ask him how to write the letter. She runs out of her room.

When Usagi arrives at the radio station, the guard at the door tells her that they don't have a show called "Midnight Zero." He tells her to go home. She sighs and walks back to her house.

At home, Usagi and Luna watch the clock, waiting for the show to come on. At midnight, J. Dite's voice comes on the radio, saying that it is time for Midnight Zero. Usagi thinks that the guard lied, but Luna looks in the paper and sees that a different show should be FM No. 10 at midnight - not Midnight Zero. Usagi says that the paper must be wrong.

On the radio, J. Dite announces that the first letter to be read will be from Naru, who lives in Juubangai.

In the radio station, Jadeite can be seen reading Naru's letter; he is posing as the announcer J. Dite. The strange woman who took the Midnight Zero letters earlier stands in the studio. Jadeite holds a purple flower brooch in his hand and laughs.

[Commercial Break]

The next morning at school, Naru shows off a package containing a flower brooch from Midnight Zero. She opens it to show her friends, and Usagi notices that it is the same as Haruna-sensei's. Naru pins the flower to her shirt, and it immediately glows and begins to steal her energy. She starts to feel sleepy, and soon falls asleep. Usagi and the other girls try to wake her up, but the flower steals Usagi's energy, too.

Usagi falls asleep on the floor, and begins to dream. She sees herself flying over the clouds, in front of the moon. She sees Tuxedo Kamen, and he turns around. Blushing, she asks him if he could be her future boyfriend. He says that it seems that way. Usagi is very excited, and asks him to show her his face. He begins to remove his mask, and Usagi's heart is pounding.

Luna sudddenly yells and wakes up Usagi, ending her dream. She is in the school's infirmiry. Usagi rushes to Naru's bed, which is next to hers. Luna says that there must be something about the radio program, Midnight Zero, that is causing the sleeping sickness.

Meanwhile, Jadeite talks to Flow. He tells her that the experiment is a success; he never though that young women with dreams of love could have so much energy. He tells her that the flower brooch, which she created, absorbs their dreams of love.

At FM No. 10, the radio station, Usagi peaks around the corner at the guard. She asks Luna how she will sneak in, because the guard will just stop her again. Luna tells her not to worry; she jumps into the air, turns a flip, and produces a disguise pen. She then tells Usagi that she can use it to disguise herself as other people.

Usagi uses the pen to disguise herself as a "beautiful newscaster" with short blond hair and a cute pink dress. She puts on sunglasses and begins to walk away. Luna says she has the attitude down... but Usagi promptly proves her wrong by tripping on her heel and falling.

Inside the studio, Jadeite (disguised as J. Dite) announces the beginning of Midnight Zero. Usagi looks through the window of the studio and says that he is cute; Luna says, "What are you saying? He's the enemy!" Luna looks into the window again and sees that the normal employees are all unconscious. Usagi opens the door and storms into the room as J. Dite is reading the first letter.

Usagi sits down in front of the microphone in the studio and says, "Sorry to interrupt your program, but there is an emergency news flash. We have learned that the flower brooches that have been sent from this show are very dangerous. Do not touch them if they are sent to you." Jadeite slams his fists on the desk, but Usagi continues, "Everyone, think about it. A love letter means nothing if you don't give it to the person yourself. Wake up from your dreams."

The glass in the studio window breaks, and Flow comes flying through, transforming from her civilian disguise into a youma. She blasts Usagi and Luna with energy, and Usagi manages to transform into Sailor Moon with "Moon Prism Power, Make Up!" She says, "Trying to ruin girls' dreams of love is abominable! Abominable snowman!" Luna asks if it was necessary to say "abominable snowman."

Jadeite says she's the one who keeps interfering. He introduces himself to her, and Flow begins to attack again. Sailor Moon and Luna escape through a hole in the roof, but Flow follows them and continue attacking. Sailor Moon uses "Moon Tiara Action" against the enemy, killing her.

Sailor Moon tries to use "Moon Tiara Action" against Jadeite, but he stops the tiara it mid-air, and lets it drop to the ground. She tries to physically attack him, but he holds up a shield of energy, which she crashes into. She falls to the ground in disbelief as Jadeite walks towards her.

Just as Jadeite nears her, a red rose flies through the air and lands at his feet. Jadeite smirks and promptly disappears into a black hole. Sailor Moon sees Tuxedo Kamen laughing and flying away.

The next morning, everyone infected by the "sleeping sickness" wakes up, confused. At school, Usagi writes a letter saying, "Tuxedo Kamen, from the first day I met you, I've..." but ends there, because Naru snatches the letter away, telling her that Midnight Zero is over. Usagi says that it doesn't matter, because she's going to give the letter to him herself. She tries to get it back, but Naru runs away.

Haruna-sensei steps into the room, cheerfully saying, "Good morning! I'm sorry to have worried you, but I'm much better now. I'm refreshed - let's all study hard!" Naru and Usagi run past her desk, and she hears that the two have a love letter. She runs after them, because she wants to read it, too!
