YOUMA:

Youma (sometimes called "monsters of the day" by fans) appear in almost every anime episode of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. Youma translates into "ghost" or "apparition." They are minions of the Dark Moon Kingdom who fight against the senshi, although they are defeated relatively easily. Most youma work under the direction of one of the four Shitennou: Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite, or Kunzite. The Seven Great Youma are the seven very powerful youma who served under Queen Beryl during her Silver Millennium attempt to overthrow the Moon Kingdom. After the battle, they were imprisoned within seven separate shards of the Ginzuishou which became known as Nijizuishou, or "Rainbow Crystals," because each one was a different color of the rainbow. Youma do not appear in the following episodes: 004, 013, 020, 022, 033, 034, 035, 041, 044, and 046.
