Rubeus is the first member of the Black Moon Clan to travel to the past. He first appears in episode 60. His main objective is to take over the Crystal Points in Tokyo, and to find the "rabbit" - ChibUsa, as well as the future ginzuisou. The four Ayakashi Sisters work for him, but when they fail him, he tries to have them killed, although the senshi ensure that he fails in this endeavour. Esmeraude warns him that the Prince was angry with him, and in order to ease the prince's frustrations, he kidnaps the four Inner Senshi in episode 73. In episode 74, Sailor Moon and ChibiUsa confront him. He draws them both up into his UFO, where he is almost invicible due to the black crystal inside it. A battle between Rubeus and Sailor Moon ensues, but ChibiUsa uses the power within herself to destroy his black crystal, enabling Sailor Moon to use Moon Princess Halation on Rubeus. The crystal is the source of power for the UFO, and its destruction brings about the self-destruction of the UFO. Sailor Moon, ChibiUsa, and the Inner Senshi use Sailor Teleport to teleport away from the ship, but Rubeus is too weak to escape. Esmeraude appears, and Rubeus thinks she is there to save him. Instead, she laughs at him and calls him a failure, then leaves him alone He dies within his UFO when it explodes. Rubeus's seiyuu is Wataru Takagi.
Rubeus is in control of the Four Ayakashi Sisters. After the four sisters are each killed, he
takes the captured Sailor Senshi to the planet Nemesis, and places them in a dungeon in order
to bait Sailor Moon. Rubeus channels his spirit into Calaveras's body, and, as her, announces
to the world that the Black Moon has come to lead the Earth to the correct path. In act 20,
Sailor Moon comes to Nemesis to rescue her friends, and wreaks havoc upon the planet. The
castle begins collapsing, and Rubeus tries to escape. Wiseman catches him, however, and Rubeus
sees the sillhouette of Black Lady. Rubeus demands to know what Wiseman's true plot is, but
Wiseman respons by using the power of his Death Hands to kill Rubeus, who screams out, "Prince!"
just before dying.
