click for larger version Souichi Tomoe first appears in episode 90. He is a scientist who is also the leader of the Death Busters, as well as Hotaru Tomoe's father and the owner of Mugen Gakuen. When Hotaru was a small child, there was an explosion and a fire in his laboratory. He and his daughter were both severely injured., and his wife, Keiko died. An entity appeared to him, telling him that his daughter could be saved if he would agree to certain terms. To save his daughter, he agreed, and was immediately possessed by the daimon Germatoid. Hotaru lives, but she is possessed as well by Mistress 9. Professor Tomoe allows Hotaru to be groomed to be the Messiah of Silence because he has become possessed, and is no longer truly himself. When confronted with Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, Germatoid leaves Professor Tomoe's body in order to fight the two senshi, and the professor is released, becoming good once again. The senshi then defeat the daimon. Professor Tomoe then goes in search of his daughter. When Mistress 9 begins to weaken, he embraces her because she is still his daughter. He begs Sailor Moon to give him the Holy Grail so that he can save Hotaru, as he has no recollection of what happened while he was possessed. After Hotaru is reborn again, we find that it is possible that Tomoe will never again regain his memory of what happened while he was possessed. Hotaru is returned to him, and the two live together again. In Sailor Stars episode 167, he makes another appearance. He is with baby Hotaru, and they live together in his mansion. Setsuna comes to take Hotaru to live with her, Michiru, and Haruka. Professor Tomoe's seiyuu is Akira Kamiya.



MANGA


click for larger version Souichi Tomoe is a famous genetic scientist who was rejected by the scientific community for his experiments and desire to create superhumans. After this rejection, he moves to the Mugen area and buys a good deal of property there. He also becomes principal of Mugen Gakuen. When his daughter, Hotaru Tomoe, is 8 years old, a fire breaks out in the area, injuring the child and killing her mother, Keiko Tomoe. Professor Tomoe was devastated by this. Later, in his laboratory, lightning strikes Kaolinite, and Master Pharaoh 90 begins talking through her. Professor Tomoe decides that he is the chosen one, and follows the path of the Death Busters. The professor then implants a daimon egg for Mistress 9 inside of his daughter's body. His goal is to perfect the superhuman daimon inside human vessels. The only ones who have been perfected are himself, Kaolinite, and the Witches 5. He eventually transforms into a superhuman daimon called Germatoid in act 32, after the senshi try to save ChibiUsa by destroying the Death Busters. Super Sailor Moon eventually kills him.
