EPISODE 030 - JIJI

Jiji appeared in episode 030. He was one of the Seven Great Youma of the Dark Kingdom who were loyal to Queen Beryl during the Silver Millennium and participated in her invasion of the Moon Kingdom. Ultimately, Queen Serenity imprisoned them in seven separate shards of the Ginzuishou, known as the Nijizuishou (Rainbow Crystals) because each one was a different color of the rainbow. In the present day, they were reincarnated into seven individuals (six humans and one cat) with no memory of their existence as youma. Rikokeida was sealed within the indigo Nijizuishou, and was reincarnated as Rei's Grandfather. Zoisite tried and failed to remove the Nijizuishou the first time, but was able to finish the job the second time. He even managed to collect the crystal for himself.

After Jiji transformed, Zoisite intructed him to attack Tuxedo Kamen, who was attempting to obtain the Nijizuishou. Tuxedo Kamen ran after Zoisite, and Jiji sent a blast of energy in his direction, to no avail. Instead of continuing to attack Tuxedo Kamen, he turned and began to chase after Yuuichirou Kumada. Yuuichirou ran inside the shrine and alerted Rei about the situation. He even stood up to the youma himself, but was quickly knocked unconscious. Rei used her holy fire to acertain that Jiji was actually her grandfather, and even figured out that his recent emotional instability was due to the Nijizuishou inside him. She attempted to remind him that she was his granddaughter, in a last-ditch attempt to reawaken some of the human spirit still inside of him and get him to hesitate in his attack. This plan did not work, and he continued attacking just as ferociously as before. Luckily, Usagi arrived and threw a rice cake at Jiji, distracting him just long enough for Rei to escape. Usagi transformed into Sailor Moon and began to attack the youma with Moon Tiara Action... until Rei told her that Jiji was actually her grandfather. He began chasing them, and Luna instructed Rei to use one of her ofuda to immobilize him. She did so, and it stopped him just long enough for Sailor Moon to use Moon Healing Escalation to heal him, causing him to revert back to his human form as Rei's grandfather.

Jiji's seiyuu was Tomomichi Nishimura.
