EPISODE 039 - JANELYN & MISHA

Janelyn (female) and Misha (male) were Olympic gold medalist figure skaters who worked together and appeared in episode 039. In celebration of the opening of the new Juuban Ice Arena, they were offering free ice skating lessons for groups of five girls. Usagi, Minako, Rei, Ami, and Makoto went to participate, although they did somewhat suspect it to be a trap. They were right: Kunzite was attempting to find out Sailor Moon's true identity and steal the Ginzuishou. He found out that ice skating was a very popular sport in the Moon Kingdom, and Princess Serenity was particularly skilled. In order to capture Sailor Moon, he brainwashed Janelyn and Misha into working with him, and he gave them the ability to transform into youma. While Misha was on the ice working with the various girls who came for free lessons, Janelyn went to a special control room where she used a computer to analyze video footage of the skaters, comparing each one to data the Dark Kingdom had collected on the Sailor Senshi. Usagi was immediately ruled out as Sailor Moon due to her lack of skill. Meanwhile, Misha noticed that Makoto possessed an enormous talent for ice skating. Suspecting her of being Sailor Moon, he began to work very closely with her, even telling her that she is the best partner for him in the world.

Janelyn saw Misha's advances from the control room and became extremely jealous. She announced over the intercom that the lesson was over for the day, and that everyone should go home. As Makoto was leaving, Misha caught her and asked her to stay late for an extended private lesson. Janelyn stormed onto the ice and demanded to know what was going on, but Misha insisted that he was simply trying to determine if Makoto was really Sailor Moon. She quickly transformed into her youma form and attacked the two, breaking them apart. Misha was persistent that he and Janelyn were the greatest figure skating pair. He touched her hand and transformed into a youma as well, then told Makoto since she had seen them, they could not allow her to live. Meanwhile, Usagi had seen the control room and figured out what was happening. She transformed into Sailor Moon and confronted the youma. She was extremely unsteady on the ice, and the two youma were able to easily attack her. Luckily, Endymion arrived on the scene and pushed her out of the way. He warned her not to misunderstand his rescue: he said he simply did not like the "underhanded" way that the youma dragged an innocent girl (Makoto) into the attack, and that he would soon return for the Ginzuishou. Once he released Sailor Moon, she was a bit more steady on her feet and was even able to dodge more attacks by the youma. Sailor Jupiter soon appeared and used Supreme Thunder to stun and injure the two youma. The other Sailor Senshi appared as well, but as soon as they arrived, Kunzite appeared. He then caused an enormous sphere in the ceiling to begin glowing red, which in turn caused the vents to come on and blow freezing air towards the skating rink. Everything became encrusted in ice. Kunzite then told everyone, "This is the icy hell of absolute zero temperature. Once you have all turned into ice figures, I will return and take my sweet time getting the Ginzuishou!" He disappeared, but everyone was freezing, including Endymion and the youma. Endymion thought quickly and threw his cane at the glowing sphere. When it hit, the sphere stopped glowing and exploded, causing the cold air to stop. Sailor Moon quickly used Moon Healing Escalation to case Misha and Janelyn to transform back into their human forms. Although the skaters were not seen again during the series, they presumably went back to their normal life after her encounter with Kunzite and the Sailor Senshi.

Janelyn and Misha's attacks included Triple Axel Kick, Combination Jump Attack, Death Spiral, Double Spin Kick, and Sit Spin Kick.

Janelyn and Misha refer to themselves as Zoyrin Gellers or Doringelars. The exact spelling is unclear as it never appears in print in any official source. "Zoyrin Gellers" is the text used in the official ADV subtitles, while the term "Doringelars" appears in many fansubs. This name is used only to refer to Janelyn and Misha when in their youma forms, and only when they were acting together. Its meaning is unclear.

Janelyn's seiyuu was Wakana Yamazaki. Misha's seiyuu was Tsubasa Shioya.
