EPISODE 028 - BINAH

Binah (

) appeared in episode 028. She was one of the Seven Great Youma of the Dark Kingdom who were loyal to Queen Beryl during the Silver Millennium and participated in her invasion of the Moon Kingdom. Ultimately, Queen Serenity imprisoned them in seven separate shards of the Ginzuishou, known as the Nijizuishou (Rainbow Crystals) because each one was a different color of the rainbow. In the present day, they were reincarnated into seven individuals (six humans and one cat) with no memory of their existence as youma. Binah was sealed within the green Nijizuishou, and was reincarnated as Yumemi Yumeno, a very talented young female artist who was quite well-known, despite being rather reclusive due to her low self esteem. Zoisite used his Kurozuishou to locate Yumemi, and attacked her in her home. He was able to extract and collect the green Nijizuishou from her, causing her to transform into Binah. Zoisite and Binah were immediately confronted by Sailor Moon, who had already contacted the other senshi to let them know what was happening. Binah quickly tossed a feather into the air, which sketched the outline of a boulder above Sailor Moon. Shockingly, the boulder became real and dropped on Sailor Moon... who narrowly dodges the attack. Binah continued this same ploy with larger and large boulders. Just as the largest one was about to crush Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Kamen leapt in to rescue her by carrying her to safety. Zoisite fled the scene, but Tuxedo Kamen quickly chased after him.

Binah approached Sailor Moon again, who begged Yumemi to remember her kind heart. Binah ignored her and attacked with ropes... which turned into snakes mid-air. Luckily, the Sailor Senshi appeared, and Sailor Mars was able to destroy the snakes with her Fire Soul attack. Binah then used feathers once again to create large boulders in the air which came crashing down towards the senshi, but Sailor Mercury was able to temporarily obstruct the youma's vision with her Sabão Spray attack. Sailor Moon begged everyone to go easy on Binah, because Yumemi was a good person. She then ran off to help Tuxedo Kamen. When she returned, the senshi had been attacking Binah for quite some time, and Sailor Jupiter was even able to rip her wings to shred using her Supreme Thunder attack. By this time, Binah was substantially weakened, and Sailor Moon used the opportunity to heal her with Moon Healing Escalation, causing Binah to transform back into Yumemi.

Bunbo's seiyuu was Yuriko Fuchizaki.

NAME

Many fans mistakenly call Binah "Vena," although this is probably due to the fact that her name in the North American dub is Veena. The characters of her name,

, are directly translated as Bina. Binah's name comes from the second intellectual Sephirah on the tree of life in the Kabbalah (called Binah), which represents creativity, understanding, and obscurity.
