Legendary Lovers

click for larger version The tale of the Legendary Lovers was an old story passed down through many generations. There was a statue of the couple at Steamy Hot Springs Inn resort in episode 040, prompting Ikuko Tsukino to tell her Usagi the story. Ikuko said, "A maiden of the Heavens had come down to Earth, and a youth of the land fell in love with her. But a girl, who adored that youth, turned into a monster in a fit of jealousy and she attacked the villagers indiscriminately. The maiden from the Heavens and the youth sealed the monster in this lake with the power of their love. And having exhausted their energy, they rose up to the Heavens together." The legend turned out to be true. The Dark Kingdom discovered that a strange, powerful energy was coming from the lake. Endymion realized that the energy was coming from the woman who turned into a monster, who was still sealed within the lake. He awakened the Lake Monster, but it was completely out of control and began attacking innocent bystanders. Luckily, the Sailor Senshi arrived and Sailor Moon used Moon Healing Escalation to heal the monster, causing her to turn back into a young woman who ascended into the Heavens.
