ANIME

Princess Kakyuu is the princess of the Tankei Kingdom on the planet of Kinmoku. Her home planet
has been devastated by Galaxia, so she comes to Earth in search of the Light of Hope in the hopes
of stopping Galaxia. The Starlights, her guardians, follow her to Earth, but are unable to find
her. They form a band called the Three Lights, hoping to contact the princess through their music.
Kakyuu, however, is unable to reveal herself to the Starlights right away. To reveal herself to
them would also mean revealing her presence to Galaxia, who would then know that she was on Earth
searching for the Light of Hope. Kakyuu hid herself inside of an antique incense burner, which
ChibiChibi carried around, guarding. Butterflies begin floating around Usagi and her friends,
and the fragrant scent of olive blossoms, the scent of the princess, is recognized by the
Starlights. Evenutally, Taiki and Yaten realize that the incense burner actually belongs to
Kakyuu. The princess finally emerges from the incense burner in episode 193, in order to take
Usagi to safety after the girl has been attacked by the Animamates. Her actual identity is
revealed in episode 194. She tells the senshi about the Sailor Wars, Galaxia, and the Light of
Hope, and asks them to help her stop Galaxia. The Starlights organize one last concert in
order to attract the Light of Hope. The senshi, Kakyuu, and ChibiChibi attend the concert,
during which ChibiChibi begins to glow (since she is the Light of Hope). This goes
unnoticed, however, because Tin Nyanko arrives. Clouds roll over the sky, and Galaxia
descends upon the Earth, promptly killing Tin Nyanko, the last remaining Animamate. Galaxia
targets Kakyuu first, attacking her for her starseed. She struggles to defend herself, but
Galaxia at last prevails, taking the princess's starseed and, thus, killing her. Here we see
that Princess Kakyuu does have a true starseed, and although she never transforms, she is
actually a senshi. Princess Kakyuu dies telling the Starlights to combine their energy in
order to defeat Galaxia. Later, in episode 200, after Chaos has been defeated by Eternal
Sailor Moon, all of the starseeds taken by Galaxia are restored. Princess Kakyuu is alive
once again, and she returns with the Starlights to her home planet of Kinmoku to begin
rebuilding. Princess Kakyuu's seiyuu is
Sakiko Tamagawa.
MANGA

Princess Kakyuu is the first order imperial princess of the Tankei Kingdom on the planet of
Kinmoku. She first apperas in Act 44, Volume 16. Her planet was attacked by Galaxia, who also
killed her lover. She left her Kinmoku-sei for Earth, to find Sailor Moon. During all of these
events, she was somehow separated from her guardians, the Starlights. Having been wounded during
the battle, she hides inside of an incense burner to recover. ChibiChibi carries the incense
burner (which has the fragrant scent of olive blossoms) around to protect the princess, and
refuses to give it to anyone. In Act 45, Volume 16, the Starlights try to coerce ChibiChibi
into giving up the incense burner, but she adamently refuses. Finally, Princess Kakyuu emerges
from the burner and is reunited with the Starlights. In Act 46, Volume 17, she is introduced
for the first time. She tells Sailor Moon about Galaxia, and that the final target will surely
be Sailor Moon, as she has the brightest Sailor Crystal. She implores Sailor Moon to help save
the galaxy from Sailor Galaxia. She then accompanies Eternal Sailor Moon, the Starlights, and

ChibiChibi to Zero Star Saggitarius to confront Galaxia. After their confrontation with Lethe
and Mnemosyne, Chi and Phi, two of Galaxia's minions, appear to attack the group. The Starlights,
still unconscious from falling into the River of Oblivion, have their Sailor Crystals taken. Later,
after battling Heavy Metal Papillon in Volume 18, Chi and Phi reappear, prompting Princess Kakyuu to transform
into a senshi - Sailor Kakyuu - with "Kinmoku Star Power, Make Up!" She immediately attacks with
"Starlights Royal Straight Flush," which Phi counters with "Galactica Plants Blizzard." Sailor
Kakyuu attacks again with "Kinmoku Fusion Tempest," while Eternal Sailor Moon simultaneously
attacks with "Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss," killing Phi. In retaliation for killing her
partner, Chi stabs Sailor Kakyuu through the heart with her staff, killing her.
