click for larger version Crystal Seminar is a cram school that appears only in episode 008. Ami Mizuno attended the school during the first season, before she found out that she was a Sailor Soldier. The school was just built in the area, and is reportedly very expensive. Umino says that Ami is attending on scholarship for free. Unbeknownst to Ami or any of the other students, the school was actually part of a Dark Kingdom plot to steal energy. The youma Garoben posed as a teacher there, and gave all students a Crystal Disk to improve their studies and turn each of them into a genius. In reality, the disk contained a brainwashing program that drained users of their "brain energy" (energy of knowledge), and turned them into zombies under complete control of the youma. Usagi Tsukino and Luna discoevered the brainwashing program and went to the cram school to investigate. Usagi snuck in by claiming to be a doctor and rushing in saying that she heard someone was sick. Once she got inside and found out what was going on, she transformed into Sailor Moon and attempted to fight the youma. Garoben managed to incapacitate her, and tried to kill Ami. Fortunately, Luna gave Ami her transformation pen, allowing the girl to transform into Sailor Mercury for the first time. Together, Sailor Mercury and Sailor Moon destroyed Garoben. All of the students at the school were returned to normal.

Appearance

click for larger version Crystal Seminar is located in a normal multi-story building. The exterior has a large sign bearing the establishment's name. Another sign says that if you use the Crystal Disks, even you can be a genius. All courses use computers, and the school offers entrance exam prep courses for Primary School, Junior High School, High School, Private Universities, National Universities, and Medical/Dental Universities. The room where Ami is studying (which is the only room shown) is on an upstairs floor. It has plain white walls and tile floors, and has dozens of computer cubicles throughout the room. There are green chalkboards on each wall.
