Juuban Ice Arena

Episode of Appearance: 039 - Paired With the Youma? The Ice Queen Mako-chan!

click for larger version Juuban Ice Arena was an ice skating rink which appeared in episode 039. According to Usagi, it was just recently built, and to commemorate its opening, the Olympic gold medal figure skaters Janelyn and Misha were offering free skating lessons to groups of five girls. Usagi and the girls realized that this sounded slightly suspicious, but went for lessons anyway at Usagi and Minako's urging. Both girls had crushes on the male figure skater Misha and both were interested in skating, although neither had much experience skating.

click for larger version As the girls suspected, the skating lessons were a trap to find Sailor Moon's true identity. Kunzite gave Janelyn and Misha special youma powers and brainwashed them to work for him. While the participants skated and Misha helped, Janelyn went to a special control panel where she used a computer to analyze video footage of the skaters, comparing each one to the Sailor Senshi. Kunzite though that Sailor Moon could be identified this way, because figure skating was a very popular activity in the Moon Kingdom. Misha ruled out Usagi as a candidate for Sailor Moon because she was unable to skate at all, and Janelyn suspected Makoto due to her skill.
