Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon

Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon only appears very briefly in Act 49 of the manga. Very few pictures of her exist, including only two color manga pictures. One of the colored pictures is in the Materials Collection artbook, and it provides interesting details about the character (and her outfit) that the black and white manga does not.




Hair & Face
Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon has wavy purple hair that reaches just past her shoulders. Her hair is parted in the center. She does not have bangs; her tiara acts as a sort of headband. She also has purple eyes, and the Materials Collection artbook states that "her make-up is thick."










Accessories
Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon wears an ornate tiara on her forehead. It is probably metallic, although it is magenta. A golden star dangles in the middle of the tiara. On each side, there are three pearls and a magenta teardrop bead. Her earrings are also a teardrop bead, but have no pearls.

She wears long, gauntlet-style gloves which extend above her elbows. They are made of the same material as her top. Gloves of this style are often connected to the middle finger of the wearer, and based on some pictures, it appears that Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon wears her gloves in this manner. On top of her gloves, she wears on of Galaxia's golden bracelets on each wrist. The gloves are fingerless, so they showcase her long fingernails, which are painted purple. The Materials Collection states that "She has a manicure. Her nails are extended."

One of the most distinctive features of Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon's outfit is her large set of butterfly wings. These wings are entirely appropriate for her character, because her name, "Papillon" literally means "butterfly" in French. She is the also the guardian of souls in the graveyard at Zero Star Sagittarius, and the souls flutter around as butterflies. Although the wings seem to be a pair, butterflies actually have four wings (two on each side, upper and lower), unlike moths, whose fore- and hind- wings are connected. It can be assumed that this is also the case with Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon. Her fore-wings (the upper wings) are solid purple with black tips. Her hind-wings (the lower wings) are also purple, but have yellow and magenta markings.








Outfit
Like most of the animamates, Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon is quite scantily clad. Her entire outfit consists of what is essentially a bikini with a short skirt. She does wear a purple traditional sailor collar, but it is not connected to anything. Her top is strapless, and it is made of a purple and blue spotted material. The two halves of the top are held together in the center by a round bit of the same material. A black ruffle extends from the top, just over the bust. This is made of an unknown, but probably very light material like chiffon or lace, perhaps even silk. The sides of the top extend to her back, where they are connected by several beads. It is unclear what these beads are made of, but could potentially be made of perals, similar to the sides of her tiara.

The lower portion of Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon's outfit extends downward into a V near her belly button. It is partially made of the same spotted fabric as her top, and partially made of an unknown black fabric (perhaps even latex or leather, the same material as her boots). Magenta ruffles of material skirt out from the tops of her thighs. This is made of a light, transluscent material like organdy or chiffon.






Boots
Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon wears boots that rise above her knees to about mid-thigh. The boots have a pointed toe that is slightly squared at the end, and have very high heels. They appear to be made of latex or another shiny fabric. The boots come to a point at the top of her thigh, in the front.

Underneath the boots, Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon appears to wear tights that are the same fabric as her top. These tights can be seen rising above her boots roughly six inches. Of course, it is not specifically noted that these are tights; this is just my interpretation. Another interpretation could be that it is fabric attached directly to the tops of her boots. I prefer the tights explanation because it seems more practical. Look at the pictures and decide for yourself!
